USD vs. EUR – where to go?

When the Euro was introduced back in January 2002, it was considered a weak currency when standing at 0,86 EUR against 1 USD. Since then, the Euro managed to rise steadily to its peak in July 2008, when it peaked at about 1 EUR against 1,60 USD. Since then, the greenback has recovered somewhat which may be linked in part to the drop in crude oil prices…

Gigapixel Photography

In contrast to nowaday’s digital cameras limited to some 12-24 megapixel (some up to 60..), gigapixel photos provide levels of detail which are often incredible. With the Photokina about to open its gates, I thought it could be a nice idea to have a little overview of some of the nicest gigapixel photos in the web.

Just a bad dream?

If you happen to live in Spain, you might be aware of an online travel booking site called “E-Dreams” (www.edreams.es). It’s a site where you can book flights, compare ticket-prices of different airlines, rent cars, reserve hotel rooms and so on. What started as a small service has reached a web traffic ranking (ALEXA) of 2824 by today, which is pretty good for a site where visitors mostly come from Spain only.

Microsoft & Yahoo

The timing may be good for Microsoft’s move to take over Yahoo. With interest rates down by 1.25% within less than two weeks and almost 20 billion in cash and cash equivalents, Microsoft is well prepared to have easy play with Yahoo, whose share price is down to levels unseen since fall 2003. While Microsoft has managed to perform surprisingly good within the last two years, Yahoo ran into trouble when facing a lot of competition from Google.
